Our Community Responsibility
We fully acknowledge that without the support of the local communities within which we work, we wouldn’t have a business, below are some of the projects we are currently proud to help fund and support.
Rockinghorse Children’s Charity
Our wonderful Oakley Trio recently took on the challenge of a skydive to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
Thanks to their bravery, The Trio and our executive chairman Chris Oakley were able to present Rockinghorse Children's Charity's corporate fundraising manager Amanda Hetherington with a cheque for over £2,300.
It's not too late to donate! Use the button below to help support this wonderful cause.
Lewes Open Door Homeless Charity
Chris Oakley's Bonkers Jungle Challenge!
The challenge took place between 28th May and 11th June 2022 and saw Chris, along with a like-minded small group of local businesspeople, paddle boarding around 25km per day and camping each night in the jungle.
This unusual challenge saw the team become the first people to paddle board a 240km stretch of the Peruvian Amazon, known as ‘The Jungle of Mirrors’ (The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve).
Chris decided to do this for a local Lewes homeless charity called Open Door and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Battle of Lewes
We are proud sponsors of the Battle of Lewes 2022.
We are the main sponsors of the Battle of Lewes 2022, an action packed weekend of fun, remembering the Battle of Lewes 1264.
The Presidents Cup Golf Event
Our Lewes director David Beaken, who is a former president of the Brighton and Hove Estate Agents Association (BHEAA) has organised the Presidents Cup charity golf event for the last four years.
This year’s event is took place at West Hove Golf Club on October 14th 2021 and was held in the memory of association friend and colleague Toby Carrington, who sadly passed away earlier this year.FIND OUT MORE
Ropetackle Arts Centre
We are proud sponsors of Shoreham’s Ropetackle Arts Centre.
As joint main sponsors with Hyde Housing we are actively engaging with this great community arts facility to jointly promote Shoreham.
Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association
Integrity is at the heart of estate agency and we are proud that David Beaken Director of our Lewes Town & Country branch, is current president of this Council.
We play an active part in the support and promotion of the B&HEAA which contributes to the local business community and supports charity fundraising opportunities.
The Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association was established in 1886. It endeavours to maintain and improve the already high standards of the profession.
Both Chris Oakley and James Epps are former Presidents of the Association and actively promoted professional standards and raised money for good causes during their year of office.
Brighton & Hove Property Consortium
We were proud to be founding partners of the B&HPC.
Since our first Paris to Brighton Property Bike Ride event has become a regular annual fixture and is growing in both numbers, local significance and more importantly the amount it raises each year for the Brighton & Hove Mayors charity causes. Oakley have been proud to be joint main sponsors of the event and more importantly to take part in this great fun event.
In 2018 we were main sponsors of this essentially ‘bonkers’ fun day out on the water.
The annual event attracts up to 15,000 visitors to Lewes. We have provided major investment for the event to ensure that it continues to remain a staple calendar event in the town, which both highlights good causes and ensures the town has a fun day out in the summer!
We are proud to have been able to donate to Hyde Housing Associations Hyde Plus charity.
This is a community building charity and Hyde Plus has made significant strides in community investment. In the last year alone, 10,700 residents benefitted from the work of the Hyde Plus team, with financial gains to residents of £1.7 million.
Lewes Oyster Project
In 2017 we were pleased to make a donation to the Lewes Oyster Project to help them with their annual running costs.
What's it all about? They believe in the talents and skills of people with physical disabilities & older people and support and encourage people who want to volunteer and be involved in the community.
This project was led by our dear friend Soraya Cotwal-Ray who sadly passed away in 2017. Our thoughts and best wishes are always with her family.
