Oakley have announced the sale of a high profile town centre site in Seaford to Hyde Housing, who at the beginning of February will commence the development of the approved development of 35 new affordable housing units.
The development was approved for planning permission during the course of last year and will provide a mix of 26 x 2,3 and 4 bedroom new houses and 9 apartments situated in a prominent position in Claremont Road/Station Road immediately opposite Seaford Station.
Chris Oakley commented ‘we sold the site upon behalf of Crosstone Homes who secured the planning permission last year. It is really exciting to see that Hyde have committed to build out the development for affordable housing, despite the fact that it was approved for a mix of private market housing and affordable housing. I am sure this will be a great boost for the town of Seaford and will provide much needed high quality housing in a very central location, which makes the site very sustainable.’
Chris Oakley added ‘Hyde have been extremely active in the local area and this see’s them extending their development programme eastwards along the coast’
The site extended to 0.65 acres and had had previous planning permissions for residential developments which had not been delivered. Crossstone Homes sold the land for £1.5 million pounds.
There is also a section 106 agreement which obligates the developers to pay a contribution of £280,000 as a local recreation, education and highways improvement contribution.
