Meet the Oakley Team – Nick Williams, Branch Manager

13th February 2019

In our Meet the Team series we've been introducing to our fantastic team members one by one, this week, we'd like to introduce you to our way out West (well west of Hove, anyway) Branch Manager Nick.

Role: Branch Manager

Office: Shoreham-by-Sea

Time at Oakley: 18 months

What does your department do?

We help people move onto the next chapter of their life in Shoreham and the surrounding areas and provide property developers a first-class land and new homes service throughout West Sussex. We manage the sale and rental of properties throughout Shoreham, Lancing, Worthing and the surrounding areas.

What is your favourite thing about working with property in Shoreham?

The diverse nature of the sector and having the experience to assist a client from concept right through to practical completion. It’s a fun, yet professional environment where every day is different.  I live in Shoreham and have worked here for many years, so I very much enjoy "selling" the area to people perhaps looking to move from elsewhere.

What is your favourite thing about working at Oakley?

The culture. The company is built on integrity and raising standards within the industry and it’s great to work for such a well-respected business who prides itself on professionalism.

Do you have any funny stories or memorable achievements as a team?

A memorable moment was opening the Shoreham office in February 2018.  Shortly after opening our 3rd sales and lettings office, we received the instruction of 120 new homes being built by Hyde New Homes at The Waterfront, which is the final phase as Ropetackle on the River Adur. It's set to be Shoreham’s premier new address in 2020 and there is a lot of excitement surrounding it as we build up to the official launch!

How did you get into a career in property?

I began my career as a 17 old junior negotiator for a small independent estate agency in Brighton. I had an interest in the property at college and wanted to explore it further. The first 9 months involved mounds of photocopying before being let out on viewings when I turned 18 and passed my driving test! 17 years on, I’m proud and fortunate to be managing an office in an area close to my heart.

What has been your favourite property so far?

I’ve been lucky to see some amazing properties over the years from seafront homes to large country estates, but a detached bungalow called ‘Bay Trees’ tucked down a private lane just 100m from the beach towards Chichester has always stood out for me. It sat in the most stunning and private garden and was just a short stroll to the beach.

What do you like most about living in Sussex?

For me, West Sussex is a fantastic place to live and work. There are great beaches, miles of protected countryside and it provides easy access to Brighton and London. Not to mention some amazing pubs and restaurants, brilliant days out at Goodwood and plenty of golf courses to choose from which is a big plus for me!
