Meet the Oakley Team – Max Hewitt, Sales Consultant

5th March 2019

We believe that what drives 25 successful years at Oakley is the people behind the properties. We have a great team spirit and some very experienced staff. We’d like to help you get to know us a little better too, so please meet Max.

Role: Sales Consultant

Office: Lewes

What does your department do?

Our sales department is responsible for selling both new build and traditional properties in Lewes and the nearby areas. We specialise in the town and surrounding rural areas including the wonderful villages we are lucky to have, selling a range of property including barn conversions, period townhouses, new homes, and apartments. We deal with the whole process from start to finish.

What is your favourite thing about working with property and as an Estate Agent?

It has to be seeing sites develop from nothing into people’s homes. I am interested in the design and architecture of buildings and enjoy working with and selling a variety of developments. The way new homes are built will shape the property market of this country in the future and it’s great to be a part of that. I'm also looking forward to selling some historic properties in the Lewes area, now that I have joined the Oakley team.

What is your favourite thing about working at Oakley?

The people! I work with a great team who have an amazing breadth of knowledge and expertise. I have worked here for just over a month, but they have been really welcoming and helpful and I feel very settled already.

Do you have any funny stories or memorable achievements as a team?

We have just been received a British Property Award and we are absolutely thrilled. We were mystery shopped over the last month and I dealt with the initial enquiry so I was really pleased to have had a helping hand in our most recent award!

How did you get into a career in property?

I was working as a waiter in a cocktail bar… technically a restaurant on Hastings seafront. I waited on the table of the manager of a local lettings agent and must have done something right as he invited me to an interview. I have always been interested in building design and architecture – especially period property – so I relished the opportunity to learn more about the industry. I later helped the agent launch their sales division.

What has been your favourite property so far?

It has to be our show home at Styles Field. It’s so rare to find a Lewes house with off-street parking and a garden. I think that light and space are the two most important aspects of a property and this development has both in abundance. I'm sure as time goes on I'll find it hard to choose a favourite property as everything I've seen in the Oakley client portfolio so far has been stunning.

What do you like most about living in Sussex?

The coast! I live a short walk from St. Leonards seafront, and you can find me there most weekends (weather permitting!) eating out, having a drink or just enjoying the view. I’m also a bit of an armchair historian and enjoy learning about local history.
