Meet the Team - Arabella - Commercial Agency Team Administrator and Receptionist
6th October 2020
Arabella is our friendly face you’ll meet when you walk through the door at our Marlborough Place Commercial Agency Office in Brighton. Here’s a little more about her background, and why Arabella’s role is so vital to the business.
When did you start working at Oakley?
I became a member of the Oakley Commercial Team in August 2019 after completing my BSc Psychology Degree in Bristol. Studying Psychology has really helped me to understand people from all walks of life. This certainly helps in my job role as it means I can adapt my approach to suit all customers and hopefully know how to raise a smile and support our ethos that all customers leave us delighted by their experience with Oakley.
What was your last job before you joined Oakley?
Previously I worked at a research centre focusing on the role of appearance and body image in people’s lives. Although a very different topic to commercial property, this is where most of my administration skills were developed. Attention to detail was key in this role and it certainly helped me learn to be efficient.
You must get to meet and speak to a lot of people as a receptionist, what do you like most about the role?
I am the person that picks up the majority of calls to our Head Office and I field these to each of our relevant departments. Some calls might be about property sales, others about property management so I get to speak with tenants, landlords, owners, buyers, and tradespeople regularly so there is a really interesting variety of enquiries coming through.
I enjoy how much I can grow within my role. I started with just the basic admin tasks but overtime I have been given more responsibility within the day to day running of the business, which is exciting to be a part of.
What are the main tasks you carry out day to day?
I create the marketing material for our commercial properties for sale and to rent, I liaise with clients on the progress of their sales and purchases, I welcome new potential buyers and tenants and help identify the properties that match their business needs. I deal with the commercial team’s general administration and assist in the preparation of reports, memorandums, invoices, and letters.
What is the most interesting thing about working in the Commercial Property department?
The most interesting thing about the Commercial department is the variety of clients we get to work with and the diverse mix of properties we work on in Brighton and Hove and the wider area. Every day brings a new selection of projects and challenges which keeps me on my toes.
What are your favourite things to do in Brighton?
I am relatively new to Brighton as I only moved here last year, so I love exploring new places including the wide variety of restaurants the city has to offer. There’s always something new to discover each week. Winnie the Whippet puppy has recently moved in with me, and we love to go on walks around the South Downs enjoying the beautiful views.
What is the best thing about working with the wider Oakley team?
The best thing about Oakley is obviously the people. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming across all the different departments. If I ever I have a question, there is always a smiley face nearby willing to help out.
If you need any support with leasing, renting, finding or selling a commercial property, Arabella will be pleased to help!
