Oakley Property to host shared ownership workshop on Saturday 18th September at Atelier, Lewes

27th August 2021

Our shared ownership experts David Beaken and Beth Furnell from our East Sussex New Homes office, will be hosting a shared ownership workshop at one of Lewes’ most exciting new homes developments - Atelier. Starting from 10am and running until 2pm on September 18th, this workshop is your chance to explore the show home at Atelier and to find out more about the government backed shared ownership scheme and whether you are eligible to take advantage of it.

What will the shared ownership workshop cover?

We understand that buying a new home is a daunting process. Not only this, but the answers you find to your questions online can often be misleading. Our shared ownership workshop has been designed to combat this and provide you with accurate, up-to-date answers to your questions.

On the day, our team of experts will be accompanied by qualified Financial Advisor Josh Sisley from Wooton & Bean. Together the team will cover everything including eligibility requirements, the benefits of buying a new build home, the kind of properties that are available on the scheme and much more. They will also be happy to answer any of your questions, giving you honest answers and advice. This isn’t just a sales workshop, it’s a workshop to help educate you and assist you in making an informed decision.

Where is Atelier and how do I get there?

Atelier is an exclusive collection of 41 apartments located in the heart of Lewes with immediate access to Malling Recreation Field and the River Ouse walk into the historic town centre.

Atelier is just a short walk from the train station or main bus station but for step-by-step directions on how to find Atelier using Google Maps, please click here.

To find out more about Atelier, please visit the Atelier website.

What is shared ownership and who is eligible?

David, Beth & Josh will be able to answer this in detail at our workshop, however, here is a brief overview:

Shared ownership is a government backed scheme that allows you to buy a share of a property and pay rent on the rest.

To be eligible to buy a home through a shared ownership scheme your household must earn £80,000 (£90,000 in London) a year or less and, be unable to afford all the deposit and mortgage payments for a home that meets your needs.

This scheme is primarily designed for first-time buyers looking to get on the property ladder, however there are a variety of other ways to qualify. For a full list of eligibility requirements please visit https://www.gov.uk/affordable-home-ownership-schemes/shared-ownership-scheme.

If you are still unsure whether you qualify, we highly recommend attending the shared ownership workshop where one of our team will be able to advise you.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just drop in to the workshop?

There is no appointment necessary for the workshop. However, it will help the team on site to manage the day and give people the time they need if they know when people are coming. If you would like to book in a time for a chat or a walk round the show home, then please email beth@oakleyproperty.com or call 01273 487 444. Alternatively, do feel free just to drop in between 10.00 – 14.00.  You can find us on Brooks Road, Lewes, where the entrance to the workshop will be clearly sign posted.

What if I am unable to attend the shared ownership workshop?

If you are unable to attend on Saturday 18th September but feel you want to find out more about Atelier and shared ownership, please call us on 01273 487444, or email us at lewes@oakleyproperty.com.
